A Smile is Contagious
I believe a smile is contagious. When living in a world of despair and disappointment to have a bright and happy smile on your face can bring a morsel of happiness to someone’s day. Putting a smile on someone’s face can make you feel like a better person. When you put happiness in a person’s life you can better yourself. When you approach the world with a smile and not a frown you motivate other people to smile no matter what situation they are in. Many times I have been faced with pain and hardship and the easiest way to get through it is to smile. This not only helps yourself but it helps other people see the goodness in you. When people are going through a tough time they don’t always want your sympathy maybe they just want to see you having a good time, by them seeing this they can also enjoy what would also make them smile.
Realizing a loved one had died is a terrible thing to deal with. When going through a time of pain and suffering it’s easy to be weak and break, but really all you have to do is smile and think of what a great time you had together. When I heard the the terrible news that my uncle had passed away that night I didn’t know what to think. I took all the memories we ever had and thought of how happy he was and how he hated to see me sad. So I put on a smile and continued thinking that he loved to see me smile and would hate to see me frown when he was in a better place. My family members seemed surprised that I was not that upset. I was upset, I just put a smile on to show other it okay to smile during a time of despair and sorrow. Even though I still terribly miss my uncle I realize that it is better to live each day being happy and missing him that living each day being sad and depressed.
When you are dealing with pain or anything that hurts mentally or physically it is better to smile. Being a dancer always has positive effects but someytimes it can be hard to smile when dealing with alot of pain. When performing I always think of smiling, even if I have a sprained ankle, open blisters, or pulled muscles it is easier to get through it by smiling. When I smile it takes my mind out of the state of bieng in pain and also gives me a feeling of ease. When people see someone who is going through a hard time smiling they can’t help but to smile. Seeing some one less fortunate having a good time is emotional and moving. So even if you might be dealing with something very difficult you always have to smile and not keep your mind focused on the pain but on the outcome and what it does for other people to see you happy.
With an easy and simple gesture like smiling we could do it so much more. As someone once quoted “If you see a friend without a smile; give him one of yours.” This means that lending someone a smile is easy and a nice gesture. to give someone happiness is the best thing to do, and to know you can do it without any cost that makes it even better. Therefore I believe that a smile is contagious.
